DUCKS VS. DAWGS: 5-Star Quarterback Jared Curtis Weighs Options After Visiting Oregon and Georgia

Five-star quarterback by recruit Jared Curtis is currently at the center of a recruiting battle between the Oregon Ducks and the Georgia Bulldogs. Recently, Curtis visited both schools, and although there were expectations that he might commit soon, it seems he is not ready to make a decision. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Curtis plans to take more visits in the summer and continue his recruitment process. Conversations with his family and advisors have led him to slow down his decision-making.

Curtis is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 2 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. While he had previously been committed to Georgia, he de-committed in October 2024, opening the door for Oregon to compete for his commitment. Since then, Curtis has visited both schools, but his decision seems to be far from finalized, as he still wants to take time to evaluate his options.

Though Georgia’s proximity to Curtis’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, could be seen as an advantage, Wiltfong notes that Curtis’s family has emphasized that his decision should be based on what is best for his development rather than proximity to home. Curtis himself is focused on finding the best fit for his future success, considering both Oregon and Georgia offer strong opportunities.

In addition to his spring visits, Curtis plans to return to both Oregon and Georgia in the summer. He is scheduled to visit Oregon on June 6 and Georgia on June 13. Although he had initially considered visiting Auburn and Louisville, Curtis has narrowed his choices to just Oregon and Georgia as his finalists.

If Oregon manages to land Curtis, it could significantly bolster their 2026 recruiting class, which is already strong with commitments from top prospects like five-star tight end Kendre Harrison and four-star offensive lineman Kodi Greene. Currently, Oregon ranks No. 3 in the nation for the 2026 class, while Georgia is ranked No. 12 with just six commitments.
