Georgia Bulldogs beat Florida Gators in Gainesville

Georgia’s baseball team secured a dominant 15-4 victory over No. 13 Florida on Sunday at Condron Ballpark, completing an SEC road sweep. The win, which was achieved in just seven innings due to the run-rule, marked Georgia’s first sweep in Gainesville since 2006 and their first in the series since 2019. The Bulldogs improved to 24-2 on the season and 5-1 in SEC play.

Georgia’s offense continued its powerful performance, hitting six home runs for the second consecutive game. They now lead the nation with 70 home runs on the year. Graduate Christian Adams led the charge, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs, including a three-run blast in the second inning and a solo shot in the fifth. Slate Alford added a two-run homer in the fourth, while Ryland Zaborowski and Nolan McCarthy each hit three-run homers in the sixth. Robbie Burnett rounded out the power surge with a two-run homer in the seventh.

On the mound, junior Leighton Finley earned the win, pitching five innings while allowing only one run on two hits and striking out three. His performance was highlighted by his excellent command of all his pitches, including the fastball, change-up, and slider, making him tough for the Gators to hit. Finley’s strong outing helped Georgia complete the sweep in dominant fashion.

Christian Adams, who hails from Florida, had an outstanding weekend, going 8-for-14 with three doubles, three home runs, and seven RBIs. He credited his performance to being locked in and motivated by the chance to play in front of family and friends. Despite the impressive sweep, Adams emphasized that the team must stay focused and continue working hard, especially with tough SEC matchups ahead.

Looking forward, head coach Scott Stricklin praised his team’s efforts but reminded them that success in the SEC requires consistent performance every weekend. While they would celebrate the sweep on their bus ride home, Stricklin emphasized the importance of staying focused on the next game against West Georgia and the upcoming series against Auburn, who recently won a road series against Kentucky.
